I am borderline obsessed with water. I think it's a sensory thing... I LOVE to be in it. I have been known to take multiple baths a day just so I can be in the water. I've also been known to get minor burns on my skin because I take such hot baths, because I have a poor sense of temperature.

I love water sometimes and hate it other times. Examples:
I LOVE swimming and being immersed in water. I usually go to the lake FREQUENTLY in the summer. I can swim for literally HOURS upon hours. I spend most of that time with my head under the water, swimming back and forth, back and forth (so much so, I've literally burned 3000 calories in one swim before). I love the pressure of the water combined with the weightless feel as well. I love the feel of the water as it rushes past my face.
On the other hand, I hate being wet unless I am swimming. I have never liked showers and baths for this purpose. It was always a fight to get me to take a bath/shower, and once I finally get in, I could stay in for hours (and used to when we had a bathtub) because I hated the feeling of being wet when I got out. When it rains so hard that my clothes become soaked, I meltdown. I HATE having wet clothes sticking to my body.
When I am in water though, I repetitively move my fingers through the water, having it move through my fingers as people might do with a handful of sand. I also do something similar with my legs. I love the sound of streams and brooks and waves, etc.
Oh, and I took have a poor sense of temperature and often have really hot water when I shower. Or at the lake, I am usually the first one under while everyone else is tiptoeing in so slowly...I don't even find it that cold.

I, too, HATE coming out due to the sticking! I wear swim shorts and a meshy t-shirt (like a rash guard, kind of) to swim, and when I get out it all sticks to me and I freak out!
I do the same things with my hands and my legs... one of my more telltale autistic signs, one of the reasons I can't "pass" for typical in any situation, is that my fingers posture at odd positions. I don't know why, and I can't help it. But they do this in the water and I move them back and forth and let the water go through... wonderful!

I love watching it flow. I love that it makes my skin feel smooth. I don't swim or go to the beach, so I don't get the sticking. I only get sticky after doing the dishes.

I don't mind water or getting wet, but I hate bathing suits. Especially wet bathing suits. They are super tight and I feel like they are suffocating me, and when they are wet they become very heavy and make it even harder to breathe. Plus I don't like having wet clothes on, so I tend to avoid swimming. But I don't mind water itself, and I kinda like (when I do go swimming) the feeling of weightlessness. Mostly when I go swimming I just like to sit in the hot tub because I become cold very easily.

The VERY worst part is after you're done and you have to get dressed again, and your skin is all wet. I almost melt down every time!

The reason why I hate the beach so much (apart from not being able to swim and the sand) is that I don't feel comfortable in swimming gear. I used to only wear rash shirts and board shorts but it wasn't a part of my usual style and I just felt so wrong. Last time I was at a beach I wore a shirt, jeans and some rather expensive shoes.
