What do you think of friends you've never met? Can they be as good as flesh-and-blood friends? Me, I've never met my very best friend, and while I'd like to meet her... I'm happy typing with her

I think they're better. I can talk about deep serious issues easily with them than I can with people I know in real life. Lately my online friends have helped when I've had no one to talk about my special interests with or to talk about issues that we can both relate to but no one usually can. Disagreements are also easier because you don't experience the emotions of the other person.

I prefer online friends to real life friends. It really bothers me when I talk to people and they STARE at me! At least online if they stare at the computer screen I can't see. It's easier to talk about stuff if I can't see them.

Yes, tamsin, faces totally overwhelm me. I have to lip read to understand people, but I hate faces... gah.

I much prefer internet friends, and currently all of my friends are people I first met online (although I have met several face to face).
Without the internet, I'm not sure I would have friends.
